Tonight, for some reason (many reasons) I am feeling as though I am a Dr. taking care of my patients. After the 2 1/2 month episode with Gator and having my vet here, I am realizing that I should be thankful. My vet's have a full time job that is around the clock. I can't be thankful enough that they can be here at any point in the 24 hours. I just do not see how they do it. Their schedule is stressful. Then, they take the time out to call the clients to "check in" on the patient after they have been here.
I am saying all of this because I just finished my Dr.ing! Beau, the middle guy at the top photo (buckskin) is having a reaction to the shots etc., that he just received. The vet instructed me to give banamine in a shot form. Since I only had a 3 cc syringe, he had me administer one shot, then take the back of the syringe off and leave the needle in him to accept the two next shots. Thank goodness Beau is a trooper and let me do this. We also took his temperature and he was OK with that. He has been a depressed guy since the shots and keeping his head down - and has segregated himself from the herd. Tonight, after the shot he seems better. Gator is still doing OK and is out of his stall. He is having his other hoof surgery at the first part of next week to let the pressure off where this is air in his hoof. Just in case of an abscess. Dogs - Angel Annie is getting two insulin shots a day, a thyroid pill, a pain pill for her arthritis, and a pee pee pill to help her with her incontinence. Harrison is having a pain pill for his torn muscle in his leg. Brewer has an ear infection and I am dr.ing that plus she is also on pain med's for her arthritis when it acts up. Tomorrow, Brewer is seeing the vet so that I can renew their heart worm medicine. So, Dr. I am. Had a great lesson with Julie Robins today with Jester. Great dinner of stuffed italian shells. Made three times the recipe so that my parents can take several meals home. Time for bed, eh? it is nice to know all of the animals are taken care of for the evening! Tomorrow, they will all bring me the joy that I seek, again... Then, I will take care of them - again... |
